Our boat

Providence is a 2000 Mainship Pilot 34. She has a 34’ waterline and a 12’ beam. Bridge clearance is 11’ , she drafts 3’ and displaces 12 gross tons. She carries 70 gallons of water and 250 gallons of diesel that feeds the 350hp Yanmar 6LYA-STE.

The full beam cockpit has plenty of room for lounging, fishing, diving or any other recreational activity we want to pursue.

There are twin helm benches that are suitable for two people with foot rests available. The helm area benches are 6 foot in length and provide additional sleeping space for those wishing to sleep under canvas.

Through the companionway and three steps down you enter the salon. To port is our head with a standup shower and vanity with sink.  Forward of the head is the galley with a two burner propane stove, a small refrigerator, and a single bowl stainless steel sink. There is plenty of counterspace for our meal preparation.  On the starboard side of the companionway is our dining table that seats four comfortably. With the table lowered and inserts in place, this area turns into a full-size bed for guests.

Forward of the galley and salon through a centerline door is our stateroom with a V berth, two hanging lockers, two drawers, and under bed storage compartments.

Providence is not a large boat by any measure, but she’s big enough for us and she serves her purpose well. She is also small enough to fit in our slip on the mighty Saint Lawrence River.
